Covid-19 & Returning to ChildCare

Whilst the outbreak of the horrible Coronavirus this year has caused a lot of changes, being an essential service means that we have had to simply adapt to these changes and remain open.  You may have noticed some changes within our centres and how they operate.

Just in case you missed the updates somewhere along the way , we have listed them here for you.

Excursions and incursions are still on hold due to the coronavirus; this is for everybody’s safety and we will look at resuming them once everything returns to normal.  Indoor and Outdoor play, alongside intentional and spontaneous teaching occurs much the same. Family events are continuing to be postponed until it’s safe and Dan Andrews says that we are allowed to start socialising again. Teaching the children about hygiene and safety is at the top of the list with our current curriculum, some of you may notice that your child sings certain songs whilst washing their hands now, requesting to sanitize their hand upon arrival and you might find that they even remind you to cover your mouth when sneezing & coughing.

Our regular cleaners have been super busy making sure everything gets a thorough clean. We are putting on extra staff to ensure extra cleaning is happening throughout the day. Toys are being sanitised, put through the washing machine, dishwasher, etc etc. Everything is also getting cleaned, where applicable,  with VIRACLEAN®, which is a hospital grade cleaning solution, proven to kill a broad range of bacteria and viruses including Enterococcus Faecalis (VRE), MRSA, Hepatitis B Virus, Herpes Simplex Virus , Influenza Virus, and kills Coronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).

• 1 Person to Drop off & Pick up child – Please leave any additional people in the car or in the waiting area.
• Hands are to be sanitised BEFORE signing your child in or out on the iPad
• Children are not to touch the iPads
• When entering the middle area please drop your child at their door – we are trying to minimise the amount of people in the rooms.
• Please sanitise your hand upon leaving the centre
• Masks and gloves are on the front desk if you wish to use them
• Please try and maintain your social distancing with other parents – we know it is much harder with children and educators – especially with child handover.
• Temperature checks may occur on arrival for children and educators if deemed necessary.

We are following the guidelines set out by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Children will be sent home if they are displaying any of the below symptoms:

• Temperature of and above 37.5 degrees – that continues to rise or be persistent
• Persistent cough
• Breathing issues
• Runny nose – bright green or yellow mucus that constantly comes out, after being wiped.
• Exhibiting out of character behaviour – becoming lethargic, withdrawn, falling asleep outside of sleep time, becoming withdrawn, extremely unsettled and not being able to participate in the daily program.

• We will be asking you to collect your child as soon as possible.
• If you have been asked to get a clearance, it is at the centre’s discretion to accept it. If you bring your child back to care with a clearance and they are still unwell and displaying symptoms, we will send them back home, again. Children need to be symptom free to attend care.
• If your child is required to be tested, OR a family member from your household is being tested, your MUST keep your child home until the test results have come back as negative.

Please understand that we are doing everything we can to reduce the spread of germs.  We also understand that children become unwell and it is hard as parents, to take time off from work. But sending your child to care unwell causes a chain reaction of sickness with other children as well as our educators and we are trying to avoid this.

So please keep your child home if they are unwell.
